22-year-old Kirstie Leightley is an international showjumper, whose star is well and truly on the rise.
Growing up in a non horsey family was never a barrier for this Kent based rider, who quickly became a regular on the British pony, junior and young rider circuit.
No stranger to winning, Kirstie decided to follow her passion into her teenage years and committed to training with UK based Portuguese rider Joao Charlesworth, alongside taking her A-levels.
Her talent earned her the opportunity of a position as stable jockey to British rider Guy Williams. Kirstie relocated to his French base for four years, competing alongside Guy at all European shows and having the chance to jump top horses at international level.
While in France, Kirstie formed a great relationship with mare Thais D’La Verrerie. Her reputation for being a tricky ride is testament to Kirstie’s skill and determination, producing her all the way from novice level to international 4* classes and placing in the 2018 Hickstead Speed Derby.
Kirstie recently moved back to the UK and has set up her own base in Kent.
